ICONIC MOOLOOLABA WALK AND RIDE BRIDGE

What: Walk and Ride Bridge for cyclists and pedestrians
Where: Bindaree Crescent to River Esplanade, Mooloolaba, Australia
When: Completed December 2018
Our Role: Lead Design Consultant, Structural Design and Quality Inspections
Awards: Winner (Projects $2 million to $5 million) – IPWEAQ 2019 Excellence Awards
The bridge is a key component in the active transport link between Mooloolaba and Minyama, on the Sunshine Coast:
- 66 metre long iconic bridge
- Continuous 66 metre joint-free coloured concrete deck;
- Incorporates coloured, textured and curved concrete surfaces;
- Polished stainless steel handrails;
- Themed night-time lighting
- Viewing decks with Norfolk Pine themed roofs
Planning and delivering this project required a solid collaborative effort between all parties, to achieve success. Thank you to Sunshine Coast Council (Bridge Owner), Alder Constructions (Builder/Contractor), and Place Design Group (Architect).
